Huron Consulting is working with public and private schools and architectural firms in the modernization of educational facilities. Montgomery County Public Schools is aggressively upgrading and modernizing its schools to not only improve safety but also to implement Environmental Site Design (ESD) standards related to Maryland's current stormwater management regulations. ESD uses non-structural Best Management Practices such as bioretention ponds, swales and green roofs to prevent soil erosion and minimize pollutants in stormwater. Many private schools are following suit. In addition to ESD, Huron is providing site design for traffic improvements and athletic fields.
